Progressives organize to oust Flanders

Over 40 progressives that live in NH State Senate district 7 recently met to elect officers and organize for the 2006 election. According to the founder of the organization, The New Hampshire Senate District 7 Voter Alliance, Christopher O'Connor of Hillsborough, also the towns Democratic Party town chair, they hope to reach out to local progressives and build a war chest in anticipation for a race against incumbent State Senator Bob Flanders.

While they have not set a goal as to how much they raise they are confident that they will be able to mobilize grassroots progressives to defeat the incumbent. Many of the members are veterans of two local State Representative races of Claudia Chase and Gil Shattuck.

One of our primary goals is to possibly "draw in candidates who might not otherwise have been involved" said O'Connor.

Getting rid of Flanders can only help Republicans in the long run. It is Flanders type who give them such a black eye.
